Current Fishing Report

Ocracoke is sunny and warm again today. We missed the rain that came through on the mainland yesterday. Ocracoke is usually really quiet the first two weeks after Memorial Day weekend so we do not have many folks out fishing right now. Those that are fishing the beach are finding bluefish, mostly medium sized, keeper flounder, some puppy drum, a few black drum, and a couple of sheepshead and pompano. The best fishing has been in the early morning before ten and later afternoon after four the past few days. During the day, there has not been to much reported.
John Owen of Raleigh, Nc came by with his 1 lb 7 oz pompano yesterday afternoon. Rip Van Winkle of Sunset Beach, NC shared his picture of a 25" puppy drum. Cliff Baumbach of Philadelphia, PA came by with an eleven pound bluefish Friday afternoon. Casey Dudley of Scottsville, VA shared her photo of a 3 foot Bonnet head shark she caught and released Friday night. Augustine Hernandez and AJ of Jacksonville, NC came by with a couple of bluefish they caught last night. Augustine also shared his photo of a 32" red drum he released. Fernando Melendez and Tom Paine went offshore on a "Gecko" charter Friday and shared theri photo of dolphin, wahoo, and amberjack. Capt. Reid Robinson of "Devereux" reported his charter yesterday caught over 500 pounds of dolphin and wahoo and shared this photo. Mike and Kevin Chapman of Winchester, VA sent their photos from Thursday reporting a king, dolphin, amberjack, bluefish, and several triggers.
Inshore reports include flounder, bluefish, and some spanish mackerel.
Offshore reports include dolphin, wahoo, black sea bass, and amberjack.
Have fun fishing!
Melinda
