Fishing Report
With many folks heading back home today, we have plenty of space to fish today and most likely this week. The weather is beautiful - it feels like a nice fall day with lower humidity, sun and North winds. We are experiencing an increased surge in waves from the tropical storm Hanna down in the Bahamas, but it seems to be stirring up the fish as well. Those that are out fishing reported bluefish, sea mullets, nice flounder, black drum, several puppy drum and at least one large red drum.
Darrell Thompson of Winston Salem, NC had his first red drum- a nice 41" drum last night and shared his photo. Devin Smith of Stokes, NC came by this morning with a 6 oz croaker. Wade Gaskins of New Bern, NC shared his photos from yesterday of his puppy drum and Jeno Cossette of Wilson, NC with his 26" puppy drum before heading home this morning. Matteus Gilbert of Ocracoke, NC had a large oyster toadfish and nice seamullet yesterday. Donnie and Devin Smith of Stokes, NC and Jamie Cass and Darrell Thompson of Winston Salem, NC had fun gigging flounder Saturday evening and shared their photo with us. Donald Kornhaus of Smithfield, VA and Jason Judd of Newport News, VA had a nice trip out on the "Rascal" with Capt. Norman Miller. Donald had a 5 lb 4 oz snapper and Jason had a citation 5 lb 6 oz triggerfish. Frankie Whitley of Raleigh, NC becomes our new derby leader for his 4 lb 12 oz spanish mackerel.
Have fun fishing!
Melinda
